🏡 The Home We Can’t Move Out Of: Why We’re Doing a Liver Cleanse

As real estate professionals, Eric and I spend a lot of our time thinking about homes—how to care for them, protect them, and help others find the right one. But recently, we realized we’ve been neglecting the one home we can’t refinance, flip, or move out of: 👉 Our bodies.

For the first time ever, Eric and I are doing a 9-day liver cleanse together. This isn’t a fad or a vanity project, it’s our attempt at honoring the physical space we live in every single day. And just like a home, the body needs regular maintenance, cleaning, and the occasional repair.

“Your liver does more than filter toxins, it’s involved with so many systems in the body, including managing your energy, hormones, immunity and pulling nutrients from food. Supporting it with real food and rest is so important; it’s part of basic maintenance for the most important home you’ll ever own, your body.
”
— Ivy Ham, Certified Herbalist

đŸ«€ Why the Liver?

The liver is our built-in detox team, HVAC system, and water filter all in one.
Over time, just like a clogged drain or a leaky roof, the liver gets burdened—by environmental toxins, processed foods, chronic stress hormones, prescribed meds, microplastics exposure and years of “I’ll deal with it later.”

Let’s be honest: we’ve both been in “later” mode for a while.

But this year, we finally decided to take action. Not just for ourselves, but for the long-term health of our shared home—our relationship, our family, and our work.

🧃 What We're Doing

We’re following the 3-6-9 Liver Cleanse protocol from Medical Medium and supported by herbal wisdom from Ivy Ham, a certified herbalist (and someone whose opinion we value deeply). Medical Medium has several cleanses that all help support the body’s elimination of toxins, natural and artificial.

This cleanse is built on:

  • Whole, living fruits and vegetables

  • Daily smoothies and juices

  • A gradual reduction of fats and processed foods

  • A total reset for the liver over 9 days

After our cleanse, which is very low protein, we will be going back to a “normal diet” inspired by Dr Ray Peat. Dr Peat was a pioneer researcher in the health field who specialized in optimizing the health of your thyroid, stabilizing blood sugars and embracing nutrient-dense, animal-based foods.

🔁 It’s Not a One-and-Done

Just like you wouldn’t power wash your siding once and call it a lifetime, this cleanse is likely the first of several. We’re not expecting a miracle. We’re hoping for:

  • Better energy

  • Better memory and mental acuity

  • Clearer skin

  • More balanced hormones & fewer hot flashes

  • More restful sleep

  • Less inflammation

But most of all—we’re hoping to reconnect with the idea that our bodies deserve the same care we give the homes we manage and live in.

Your Body is Your Forever Home

We believe that caring for the body isn’t separate from our business—it’s an extension of it. When we feel good, we show up better for our clients, our community, and each other. I feel this applies to everyone, and is the reason why so many people are grumpy or are struggling. If you approach life from a place of full nourishment and health, you are able to approach tough situations with your best self more often, and that makes a huge difference for your relationships, businesses and personal growth.

So whether you’re buying a new home, fixing up an old one, or realizing it’s time to look inward—remember:
You live here, and your body is your forever home.
And you deserve to live in a body—and a home—that supports your best life.
