A Tiny Home Built by Veterans
This tiny home was built by a local non-profit whose mission is to build skills and reduce homelessness. We purchased it in fall 2021 and set it up as a permanent accessory dwelling unit behind Hunsucker's Place, in quiet tribute to both of our fathers, who served in the United States Army.
It is a true tiny home. The queen bed sits in a loft you reach by ladder, the kitchen is a kitchenette, and every inch has a job. In return you get your own front door, a back deck with a small gas grill, a hammock chair by the window, and a quiet spot to work with fast WiFi.

Every turnover uses low odor, fragrance free cleaning products and 100% cotton linens, never plug in air fresheners or heavily scented sprays. Good to Know Before You Book
Check in, checkout, and quiet hours
Check in is between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Checkout is before 10:00 AM. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 9:00 AM. Each Airbnb booking is 2 to 30 nights so our cleaners can get in between stays, and Airbnb's Terms of Service and the listing's stated policies govern every booking.
Pets
The Urban Birdhouse welcomes 1 well behaved dog or 1 cat. The pet fee is $25 per night, and all pets must be listed at the time of booking. Guests traveling with a cat must disclose in writing before booking how they'll contain litter and prevent clawing or spraying. Read why we ask about your cat before you book.

Linens and towels
We use 100% cotton linens. If linens are damaged, permanently stained, or missing, these fees apply: $20 per towel, $25 per pillowcase, $100 per sheet set, and $20 to $500 per quilt or blanket, depending on the item. Hair dye, self tanner, and makeup are the usual culprits. We always contact you before filing anything through Airbnb.

How do I book the Urban Birdhouse?
Bookings of 2 to 30 nights are made on Airbnb. It is only available on Airbnb. We do not take cash, direct, or off platform bookings.
How many people does the Urban Birdhouse sleep?
Two. There is one queen bed in a loft reached by a ladder. If a ladder is hard for you, one of our ground level homes like the Library of Ivy and Ellie may be a better fit.
Does the Urban Birdhouse have a kitchen?
It has a kitchenette with a compact refrigerator, a convection microwave, a single burner hot plate, a drip coffee maker, a sink, and basic dishes and utensils. There is no full range. The private deck has a small gas grill.
Is the Urban Birdhouse pet friendly?
Yes, 1 dog or 1 cat. The pet fee is $25 per night, added when you book. Pets stay off furniture and bedding. Cat owners must disclose their litter and scratching plan in writing before booking.
How far is it from UNCG, Cone Health, and downtown?
The Birdhouse is in MidTown Greensboro on W Wendover Ave, a short drive or bike ride from UNC Greensboro, Cone Health's Moses Cone Hospital campus, and downtown. Wendover Ave is a busy four lane road, so expect some traffic noise and ambulances at all hours.
Is there a fee for damaged towels or linens?
