Homes.com counts a dozen neighborhoods inside it, including Old Irving Park, New Irving Park, Kirkwood, Green Valley, and Lake Daniel, with Latham Park running along the 27401 line. Greensboro Country Club's Irving Park campus anchors the historic core, and Friendly Center sits at the zip's western edge where Friendly Avenue meets Green Valley Road.
The housing stock is a mix you will not find in most zip codes: early 1900s estates on Sunset Drive, mid-century ranches in Kirkwood, condos near Friendly Center, and new construction tucked into infill lots. The National Association of REALTORS® Consumer Guide to Open Houses and Written Agreements confirms that visiting an open house on your own does not require signing a written buyer agreement. That requirement only kicks in when an agent starts working for you, such as setting up private tours.
Know who the agent at the door works for
The agent hosting is usually there for the listing firm and the seller, not for you. In North Carolina, agents must review the Working With Real Estate Agents Disclosure with you at first substantial contact, which is the point where the conversation turns to your budget, your motivation, or your timeline. Small talk about the kitchen is fine. Guard the rest until you know who represents whom.
