How Close Is Sandora to the Beach? Watch the Walk From Our Door to the Sand

The question we hear most about Sandora is not about bedrooms or the pool. It is how far the house actually is from the water. So instead of describing it, we filmed it: out the front door, down the block, and onto the sand at the nearest public beach access in Kure Beach, NC. No car, no shuttle, no parking lot in between.

Watch the walk

The clip runs the full route: the driveway, the walk down the block, the crosswalk, and the beach access ramp with the sand and the ocean waiting at the end of it. It is the same walk any guest staying at Sandora makes, whether they book the 2 bedroom unit, the 3 bedroom unit, or the whole house.

Lucy, a friend's dog, came along for the walk. Every Sandora booking allows pets, so we wanted the video to show the trip the way many guests will make it, with a dog on the leash beside them.

Why walkable distance actually matters

A beach house that is technically "near the coast" and a beach house you can walk to are two different vacations. Walkable means no unloading a car twice a day, no circling for parking at a public access lot, and no herding kids and coolers and folding chairs across a road. It means an early walk before breakfast is realistic, and so is one more trip back to the water after dinner because nobody wants the day to end yet.

It also matters for anyone who has already spent a long car ride getting to the coast. Guests driving in from the Triad have about four hours on I-40 behind them before they ever reach Kure Beach. A short walk to the sand at the end of that drive is worth more than most amenities on a listing page.

What is at the end of the walk

The beach access shown in the video is a public access point with the usual town signage: rip current safety information, the beach condition flag key, and the posted rules for dogs on the beach. Those rules run on a seasonal schedule, on the leash and the hours, and we cover the full breakdown by location in our dog friendly Kure Beach guide on the Joy Watson Real Estate blog, which is worth reading before a trip with a dog in tow.

Book Sandora

Sandora is a brand new IBHS FORTIFIED Gold beach house in Kure Beach, built by Vince Lutheran Homes, and it books three ways: a 2 bedroom unit, a 3 bedroom unit with the saltwater pool, or the whole 5 bedroom house that sleeps 12. Both units have a partial ocean view. Sandora A has the better ocean view, and Sandora B also looks out over the saltwater pool. It is booked and managed by Network Carolina Beach, not by Joy Watson Real Estate. We share it because it belongs to people we love, and with their blessing. Mention that Joy sent you when you book.

More on the Kure Beach series

This is part of an ongoing series about Kure Beach and the walk to the water is only one piece of it. Start with the drive from Greensboro, then see what to do once you're there. The rest of the series is on the Joy Watson Real Estate blog, and our Greensboro rentals, all pet friendly, are on the Rentals page. The local Greensboro vendors we trust with our own houses are on the Preferred Vendors page.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Sandora from the beach?

Sandora is not oceanfront. It is about a five minute walk, flat the whole way, from the front door to the nearest public beach access. No car or shuttle needed. The video above shows the full route.

Can you walk to the beach from Sandora?

Yes. The walk is the entire point of the video: driveway to sand, on foot, in one continuous clip.

Is there parking at the beach access near Sandora?

Guests staying at Sandora do not need it. The beach access nearest the house is reachable on foot, which is the advantage over the public access lots that require a car and a parking spot.

Is Sandora pet friendly for beach walks?

Yes, in all three booking configurations, with a fenced yard and an outdoor shower for sandy paws back at the house. You can watch Lucy, a friend's dog, make the walk on a leash in the video above. Beach hours for dogs run on a seasonal schedule; see our dog friendly Kure Beach guide before you go.
