100% Cotton Sheets in Our Vacation Rentals: Benefits & Care Tips
At Joy Watson Real Estate, we believe a great stay starts with a dreamy night’s sleep. That’s why every bed in our furnished rentals is dressed in 100% cotton sheets—soft, breathable, and oh-so-comfy. But accidents happen, and stains can sneak up. Below, we’ll spill the tea on why cotton sheets for vacation rentals are the best, share stain-fighting tips for blood, and explain our policies on permanent stains (looking at you, self-tanner!) and hair dye mishaps. Let’s keep your stay cozy and stress-free!
Why Cotton Sheets Make Your Stay Amazing
1. Stay Cool, Sleep Better
Cotton sheets are like a breath of fresh air, letting you stay cool in summer and cozy in winter. No more sweaty wake-ups—just pure, refreshing sleep in our vacation rentals.
2. Gentle on Your Skin
Sensitive skin? Allergies? Cotton’s naturally hypoallergenic, keeping dust mites and irritants at bay. It’s soft and soothing, so you wake up glowing, not scratching. Are you slowly poisoning your air with your laundry detergent, fabric softeners, cleaners, plug ins, or air fresheners? Synthetic Fragrance is the New Second-Hand Smoke
3. Bye-Bye, Night Sweats
Cotton wicks moisture like a pro, keeping you dry even on humid nights. Unlike synthetic sheets that trap dampness, cotton ensures you stay comfy all night long.
4. Tough Yet Luxe
Our cotton sheets are built to last, staying soft and smooth through countless washes. They’re the perfect blend of durable and decadent for our rental guests.
5. Eco-Friendly Comfort
Cotton is renewable and biodegradable, making it a planet-friendly choice. Sleep soundly knowing your vacation rental supports sustainable living.
6. Five-Star Feels
Crisp, smooth cotton sheets feel like a luxury hotel. They’re our secret to making every night in our rentals feel like a mini-escape.
Why We’re All-In on Cotton for Our Rentals
From urban bungalows to cozy downtown cottages, every Joy Watson Real Estate rental features 100% cotton sheets. They’re consistent, and deliver the comfort our guests rave about. Want to experience it? Book your stay now and sink into cottony bliss.
How to Care for Our Cotton Sheets
Spills and stains happen, but we’ve got tips to keep our sheets pristine. Blood stains are fixable with quick action, but self-tanner, makeup, and hair dye? Those are troublemakers.
Tackling Blood Stains
Act Fast: Treat blood stains ASAP.
Cold Water Rinse: Run cold water through the back of the stain to flush it out. Skip hot water—it sets the stain.
Hydrogen Peroxide Hack: Dab 3% hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Let it fizz, then rinse. Test a small spot first.
Wash Smart: Use cold water and a biological detergent. Air dry or check the stain before drying to avoid setting it.
Tell Us: If the stain persists, let us know. We’ll handle it to prevent permanent damage.
Permanent Stains: Self-Tanner, Makeup, and Hair Dye
Some stains are nearly impossible to remove:
Self-Tanning Lotions: The DHA in tanners stains sheets permanently, leaving orange or brown marks. Guests must bring their own tanning sleep sack—we don’t provide them—to protect our linens.
Makeup: Foundation and mascara sink into cotton and resist removal. Use the black washcloths provided in every rental for makeup removal to keep sheets and towels spotless.
Hair Dye: Those bold colors cling to everything. Guests dyeing hair must bring their own towels and supplies. Dye on sheets or towels is permanent.
To avoid stains:
Apply self-tanner hours before bed and use a tanning sleep sack.
Cleanse with our black washcloths before hitting the pillow.
Dye hair at a salon or bring protective towels. Be cautious—dye can splash!
Hair Dye Disasters: Walls and Rugs
Hair dye doesn’t stop at linens. If it gets on walls, floors, or rugs, it’s a bigger issue. Guests will be charged an additional cleaning fee for dye on surfaces, or a repair fee if we need to seal and repaint walls or replace rugs. Save the DIY dye jobs for home to avoid extra costs.
Our Replacement Policy
We love our cotton sheets and towels, but permanent stains or missing items mean replacements. Per our rentals page:
Sheets: $100 per set
Towels: $20 per towel
Pillow Cases: $25 per case
Quilts and bedding: TBD
If sheets or towels are stained by self-tanner, makeup, or hair dye, or if damaged items are thrown away or taken, we charge these fees to keep our rentals top-notch. Spot a stain? Don’t toss anything—just tell us, and we’ll sort it out. Honesty is the best way to keep your stay hassle-free!
*Airbnb and similar short-term rental platforms don’t offer a category for hosts to disclose using cheap, fast-drying microfiber sheets, which are often uncomfortable and sweaty. These platforms avoid labeling options like “cheap microfiber sheets” to maintain a positive image, as such sheets are notorious for their plastic-like feel and poor breathability. If you’re using filters to search for cotton sheets, don’t assume you’ve ruled out low-quality linens—prepare for a potentially sweaty, uncomfortable night, as many other hosts opt for cheap, low-quality bedding. Always check with the host directly to confirm 100% cotton sheets. I have learned this the hard way.
