Room Perks: Your Mini Kitchen Setup
Granma Dotties and Mamaw Uschies are loaded with goodies to make your stay a cinch: a dorm-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and an electric hot water pot. The faucet water is 100% drinkable—crystal clear and ready to sip! Feeling fancy? Grab a jug of your favorite water from Harris Teeter at Friendly Center and chill it in your room’s fridge. Stock up on pre-cooked meals from Harris Teeter’s hot bar or fresh veggies and salads from The Fresh Market’s deli. Craving something extra? The Fresh Market serves up daily sushi, brisket, chicken, pizza, and smoothies. Deep Roots Market has our favorite local, non-corporate co-op hot bar with a full selection of salads are another quick win for meals. With these in-room appliances, you’re all set to dine without touching my kitchen! Book your stay at our Greensboro vacation rentals and settle in with ease.
We generally make half-caf coffee, typically it is Mayorga Organic from Costco, though sometimes it is another brand.
Morning Coffee: A Warm Welcome
When we fire up the coffee pot (not every morning, but when we do, it’s a treat!), upstairs guests are welcome to a mug of our brew. Help yourself to milk, creamer, and sweeteners—we love agave for a touch of sweetness, but we’ve also got honey from Eric’s family bees, straight from their hives! It’s a little taste of our hospitality to start your day right at our Greensboro vacation rentals.
Milk and cream are on the door inside the refrigerator and available when we make coffee, which is only when we are home and only when we make coffee.
My Tiny Kitchen: A Jenga Puzzle of Love
My kitchen’s so small, it’s practically a cozy nook! Every pot, pan, and spatula is stacked like a Jenga tower, ready to topple if you sneeze. It’s a personal shrine filled with treasures—cast iron cookware gifted by loved ones, baking tools from friends, and quirky gadgets from family who know I’m wild about cooking and baking (sourdough’s my jam!). Each item sparks joy, reminding me of the people I cherish. Letting guests cook here would mess up my vibe and risk my precious setup. Stay in our Granma Dotties room or Mamaw Uschies room and skip the kitchen chaos!
Cast iron pans hang pecariously from the pot rack and essentials like flour, oats and rice are stowed under the counter behind Eric’s childhood stool I upcycled with some of his old belts.
Glass-Top Stove: A $1,000 Whoopsie Waiting to Happen
Above my shiny glass-top stove hangs a pot rack, looking stylish but secretly plotting disaster. One wrong tug on those hooks, and crash—the glass shatters, costing over $1,000 to fix. No, thank you! To keep this pricey mishap at bay, the kitchen’s a guest-free zone. Instead, explore the tasty dining options, like Deep Roots Co-op Market or Fresh Market, near our Joy Watson Real Estate rentals!
Cast Iron Obsession: Gifts from the Heart
My cast iron pans? They’re family heirlooms, gifted by people I adore. I’m super picky about their care—proper seasoning is practically a ritual! Using them connects me to loved ones and fuels my passion for cooking garden-fresh meals. One wrong scrub could ruin their magic, so I keep them under my watchful eye. Guests in our Greensboro vacation rentals get to skip dish duty and savor local flavors instead!
Kitchen Cleanliness: My Sparkly Sanctuary
I’m a clean freak when it comes to my kitchen—it’s my happy place for baking sourdough and experimenting with herbs from my garden. Cleaning up after myself is fine, but guest messes? Hard pass! Keeping the kitchen guest-free ensures it stays spotless for my next culinary adventure. Stay with us at Joy Watson Real Estate and enjoy a pristine home!
These are the only three drawers in my kitchen with utensils in the top, cooking in the middle and baking in the bottom drawer. Please return all used dishes and utensils to this dishwasher. Eric usually empties it in the morning and runs it at night.
Fresh Herbs for Your Meals
Want to elevate your store-bought meal? I’ve got rosemary, thyme, oregano, and sage growing in my garden, and I’m happy to point you to the spot where you can snip some fresh herbs. Just ask, and your salad or sushi gets a gourmet upgrade! It’s a little perk for guests at our Greensboro vacation rentals.
Long-Term Guests: A Rare Kitchen Cameo
Staying 30 days or more in Granma Dotties or Mamaw Uschies? You’re practically family! If you’ve got ingredients that won’t play nice with your room’s microwave, I might—might—whip out my oven for you on special occasions. It’s not a regular thing, but a treat for our long-term buddies. Book an extended stay at our Greensboro vacation rentals and let’s talk!
Trash Talk: Keeping Bugs Out
To keep our home bug-free (no uninvited critters other than Kiddie allowed!), we don’t provide trash cans in Granma Dotties or Mamaw Uschies. Pop your trash daily into the outdoor cans by the curb where you park—small trash bags are provided in the upstairs bathroom for easy collection. Our kitchen can is tiny, so please don’t add your leftovers there; extra trash runs aren’t on our host to-do list. This bug-busting trick keeps our Joy Watson Real Estate rentals fresh and cozy!
Dining Room Fun: Share the Table
Craving a sit-down meal? We’re thrilled to share our dining room table for a proper dining experience. Borrow utensils, plates, or glasses from the kitchen—just pop them in the dishwasher after use to keep things tidy. Trash from meals still goes to the outdoor cans to avoid bug invitations. It’s all part of the charm at our Greensboro vacation rentals!
We are happy to share our table with respectful guests.

Local Eats: Greensboro’s Foodie Gems
Skip cooking and dive into Greensboro’s food scene! Harris Teeter at Friendly Center (harristeeter.com) offers hot bar meals, salads, and all your grocery needs. The Fresh Market’s deli is a must, with daily sushi, brisket, chicken, pizza, and smoothies (thefreshmarket.com). Deep Roots Market (deeprootsmarket.coop) has a hot bar and salads perfect for quick bites—my partner Eric and I love it! These spots make dining near our Joy Watson Real Estate rentals a total win.
Cleaning Crew: Keeping It Fresh
Our home gets a professional sparkle every other Wednesday, but the upstairs is only cleaned if no guests are staying or if we request it. For long-term guests (30+ days), we usually ask our cleaner to tidy the upstairs, including vacuuming and bathroom cleaning—just pick up belongings off the floor so she can work her magic. We scrub the upstairs bathroom after every guest checks out to keep it fresh. It’s all part of the clean, cozy vibe at our Greensboro vacation rentals!
Thanks for vibing with our quirky rules! They keep our home bug-free, clean, and ready for your Greensboro adventure. Got questions or need local tips? Reach out, and book your stay at Joy Watson Real Estate today!
